You’ve probably already tried: the manufacturer site is gone, the dealer that sold the original unit retired years ago, and three forum posts from 2011 disagree on whether the bag from one brand fits another. The information exists — it just exists in fragments across a hundred dealer sites, vacuum forums, parts retailers, and archived manufacturer pages, none of it in one place. This directory fixes that.

It covers every central vacuum brand we’ve been able to document — active, discontinued, acquired, and private-labeled — alongside the complete central vacuum brand guide for deeper buying guidance. You’ll find brand status, ownership history, model-by-model specifications, compatible replacement parts, and honest editorial assessments without affiliate bias shaping what gets recommended.
How brand status works in this directory:
- Active — currently manufactured and sold, with new units available and parts supported
- Discontinued — no longer producing new units; replacement parts may or may not remain available
- Acquired — changed ownership; manufacturing may have continued, changed, or stopped under new ownership
- Private-Label / Rebadged — manufactured by a different OEM and sold under a retailer or distributor name
A note on specifications. Air watt figures throughout this directory are measured at the motor under laboratory conditions per ASTM F558. Installed performance — what the hose end actually delivers at your farthest inlet — depends on pipe-run length, elbow count, and total piping volume. A unit rated at 650 air watts delivers meaningfully less at the end of a 60-foot pipe run with four 90-degree elbows. Keep that in mind when comparing specs across brands.

Major ownership changes, closures, and launches — reverse-chronological.
April 2024 — Nuera Air — Ceases all manufacturing operations Nuera Air Inc., the Canadian company that had owned and manufactured Beam, Husky, DuoVac, SoluVac, Smart, and InterVac central vacuums since 2018, permanently ceased production. The reasons were not publicly disclosed. Dealers were left holding inventory; customers with active warranties faced immediate uncertainty.
2024 — Trovac Industries — Acquires Beam, Husky, DuoVac, SoluVac, Smart, and InterVac from Nuera Air Trovac Industries Inc., Quebec — already the manufacturer of CycloVac, CanaVac, and Hayden — acquired the six brands formerly made by Nuera Air after that company ceased operations. Production of Beam and associated brands continues under Trovac ownership. This is the most significant brand consolidation in North American central vacuum history in decades.
2023 — Drainvac (DV International) — Acquires NuTone central vacuum line from Broan-NuTone Drainvac International acquired all rights to the NuTone central vacuum brand and the PurePower PP5501, PP6501, and PP7001 product line. NuTone central vacuum production continues under Drainvac. NuTone will not release new central vacuum models; Drainvac maintains the brand for existing product support and replacement parts.
2022 — Imperium — Brand discontinued The Imperium central vacuum brand, sold through Central Vacuum Stores, was discontinued when that retailer closed. VacuMaid (Lindsay Manufacturing) provides replacement parts for compatible Imperium models.
2018 — Beam / Electrolux — Nuera Air acquires Beam from Electrolux Electrolux sold its entire central vacuum division to Nuera Air Inc. of Canada. Electrolux exits central vacuum manufacturing permanently. The Aerus brand (formerly Electrolux household vacuums, now operated by an independent dealer network) was not part of this transaction.
2017 — Hayden — Trovac Industries acquires Hayden Industries Trovac acquired Hayden Industries, founded 1988, on January 1, 2017. Trovac fully redesigned the product line and relaunched Hayden with the SuperVac series manufactured at its Blainville, Quebec facility.
2007 — Beam — Rebranded as “BEAM by Electrolux” Beam Industries formally rebranded under Electrolux ownership. Manufacturing shifted progressively to Juárez, Mexico during this period.
2003 — Electrolux North America vacuum dealer network — Rebrands to Aerus The independent dealer network selling Electrolux-branded household vacuums in North America rebranded to Aerus LLC. The Electrolux central vacuum line (sold under Electrolux and Centralux names) remained a separate corporate product category through 2018.
1987 — Beam — Electrolux acquires Beam Industries AB Electrolux of Sweden purchased Beam Industries from its founder Robert Sampson.

How to Identify Your Beam Model Number
The model number label on a Beam unit is almost never where you’d expect it. Here’s where to look, by era:
Post-2007 (BEAM by Electrolux / Nuera Air era): The rating plate is typically on the bottom of the unit or on the rear panel near the exhaust port. It will read “BEAM” with a two or three-character prefix followed by three or four digits (e.g., SC398, BM2700).
